Notices for the house
Short items. Dates in 2026. Still $0.
Basement stair
Coat room opens before first frost
Pegs and bins went in on the basement stair before the first hard freeze. Wet wool hangs there, not on the gym floor. Lost-and-found is a bin, not a lecture. If a kid lands underdressed, staff pull a spare coat. Return it when the weather breaks, or keep it if the house has extras.
Transit
Green Line walk clocked at six minutes
Staff timed Cottage Grove station to the front door on a school night: six minutes at a kid’s pace, not a runner’s. Bus 4 is the curb option. Downtown El photos on this site show the city’s rail — the Chicago station at 800N 300W is not our stop. Ours is Green Line Cottage Grove.
1F
Saturday kitchen adds a second seating
Saturday plates now run 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Same rule as school nights: hot food, no bill. Allergen board on the pass. Kids who want a prep shift talk to the cook, then to Owen Grant if they are volunteering as adults.
Roll
1,950 names, still taking more
The roll passed 1,950. Quiet rooms on 3F fill first on report-card weeks. Write the desk. Do not mail cash. Do not wire anything. The house does not take it.
Ledger
October given: $0.44M
Month-to-date on the classifieds ledger is 0.44 (millions USD) for October. September closed at 1.15. Full split stays on the home edition: meals $2.95M, tutors $3.40M, grants $2.20M, building $2.30M, camps $1.20M.
